The Equestrianista Fall 2017 Collection
Posted on September 21 2017
What inspired your latest collection?
I am always inspired by elements of the traditions of equestrian fashion. The Fall 2017 Collection drew much of its inspiration from vintage colors and classic fits. Call me crazy, but I miss the day of rust colored breeches and turtlenecks. The pieces in this collection reflect that inspiration—tradition with a modern, equestrian edge.
What do you think of equestrian fashion today?
I think it has come such a long way. We've allowed self expression to take center stage, while still staying true to our equestrian traditions. My customers aren't afraid to take risks in their fashion choices, but still choose schooling and horse show looks that are tasteful and true to their passion. That's what I love about equestrian fashion today.
What’s your top pick from this collection?
I am absolutely smitten with the cut and color of our Fashionista Full Zip. A deep olive tone, with a feminine, structured silhouette and soft rouching detail that makes it a true stable to street staple.
Who is the Equestrianista woman?
The Equestrianista woman is a fun yet sophisticated woman on-the-go, who enjoys clothing that is both true to her passion, comfortable and timeless. She is feminine with a go-after-what-you-want attitude. What I love most about her is that she is both confident and effortless in her style choices.
What pieces should every equestrian-fashion-loving woman have in her wardrobe this fall?
Ha, that's easy! After our fall photo shoot I want to wear a pair of cognac riding boots, brown toned plaid breeches and our new Fashionista Full Zip everywhere! But seriously, every equestrienne should have a great jacket that doubles as a cozy layer and looks great from the barn and beyond. Also, a great fitting and comfortable sweater can't be beat in the unpredictable fall weather. Make a statement with a classic fit in a trendy color or pattern - like our new v-neck in autumn maple.
Is there an equestrian trend that you are completely over?
I appreciate street style taking inspiration from equestrian style, but I am completely over seeing a faux spur on a tall boot. Most of the women wearing them wouldn't know the first thing about their purpose.
How has your brand evolved since 2012?
I think getting out with the mobile boutique has helped us to know how our pieces affect our customer. We've really come to make sure each piece answers their need and want for style, fit, and comfort — all things we know they’re interested in. When putting a piece in the collection we make sure that it fits into their life. Knowing how an Equestrianista apparel piece is going to make their life better - that’s what gets our customers excited.
Is there a rider that you admire her style?
I admire diversity so it can change season to season. But at the moment I'm loving Princess Charlotte of Monaco. I love how she puts a look together in-and-out of the saddle. I obviously love a blend of classic with a modern edge. I think Princess Charlotte does this well, especially when she mixes chic equestrian style with everyday street style.
